As a purpose-driven team, we seek out opportunities to make a meaningful impact in the communities where we work and live. This past weekend, 26 of our OMERS and Oxford colleagues did just that by cycling 200 kilometres in the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation (PMCF) Ride, an event that has raised over $340M for cancer research since its inception and is Canada’s largest athletic fundraiser.
The PMCF collected a record-breaking $23.3M in donations this year, $136,000 of which was raised by our OMERS and Oxford team. While all of our team members rode for the PMCF mission of creating a world free from the fear of cancer, some of our riders are connected to the cause on an even more personal level. Michael Lambert, Senior Analyst on the Global Multi-Asset Strategies team, shared his experience following the weekend: “The ride was truly an inspiration. I had chemotherapy before the ride and was unsure if I would be able to attend, but the support of our team, the community and everyone at the ride carried me through. It was truly special and I was able to attend as living proof that the life-saving research this ride funds makes a difference!"
We are tremendously proud of the leadership within the team, which allowed us to bring on 19 new members this year, expand our impact and unite in a profoundly important cause. Congratulations to our riders and the countless individuals who make this event possible, and thank you to all those who supported our efforts.
