“When you’re helping others, they remember that, and they remember you.” OMERS Board Member, the Honourable David Tsubouchi, passed along this and multiple other pieces of networking wisdom on a recent appearance on the Talk About Talk podcast, alongside OMERS SVP, Head of Global Communications, Shelagh Paul and Baron Manett, Founder and Chief Experience Officer at PSBX. Shelagh and Baron both contributed a chapter to David’s book The Ripple Effect: Networking for Success.
The three discussed the importance of authenticity in networking, of building relationships before you actually need them, and of “changing the ‘I have to’ to ‘I want to.’”
