At the beginning of April, GO Bus Route 15 − which runs between Brantford and Burlington − was extended to serve stops in Six Nations of the Grand River and Mississaugas of the Credit First Nations. The Six Nations of the Grand River is located along the banks of the Grand River and is the most populous First Nation in Canada.

This extension will mark the first time Metrolinx has expanded GO Bus service to First Nations, which the transit agency says is part of their collaboration and partnership on improving transportation connections. It is meant to provide community members with access to key local and regional services like healthcare appointments, schools and jobs, and represents a significant opportunity for community members to connect with family.

“I am beyond thrilled to know that for the very first time in the history of our community, we have access to public transportation,” expressed Chief Sherri-Lyn Hill of Six Nations of the Grand River. “The GO Bus… will provide new opportunities for our members to visit families and friends within our two communities and access the City of Brantford and beyond. We are grateful to everyone who has made this incredible opportunity possible.”

“I’m so happy that our members will finally have access to public transit with the expansion of the GO Bus Route 15, to go back and forth to the cities within our territory” said Chief Claire Sault of Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. “Our First Nation members will be able to attend more of the community events we offer and more importantly, to visit and remain connected to the First Nation. We look forward to the positive impact this service will have on our community members’ ability to connect with opportunities and essential services throughout the region.”

This expanded GO bus service will run three trips a day in each direction, seven days a week, connecting to Brantford Bus Terminal, McMaster University and to Lakeshore West GO Train service at Aldershot GO Station.
