Turning Waste into Change — OMERS Donates Furniture

December 4, 2018

OMERS wins Corporate Citizen Award

OMERS is proud to have received the Corporate Citizen Award at the 2018 REmmy Awards, which recognize leadership excellence, innovation, sustainable design and social responsibility in corporate real estate and workplace management. This is the third award we have received for our partnership with Green Standards on this project.

When OMERS moved to 100 Adelaide W, we needed furniture that supported more collaboration, but we didn’t want our old materials to go to waste. So, we partnered with Green Standards to donate our equipment to local communities.

See how we kept 492 tons of furniture out of the landfill through resale, recycling and charitable donations to non-profit organizations like the MukiBaum Accessibility Centre.

About Muki-Baum

The MukiBaum Accessibility Centre is a Toronto charity, established in 2011, that is funded through

grants and donations. We provide inclusive, community-focused support to children and adults

with autism and/or other complex developmental disabilities and their families.

“Thank you OMERS for the truly amazing donation of key furniture! The individual work tables and file storage will go immediately to use by our staff and the people we serve. As a non-profit as well as a non-governmental organization, these fantastic donations directly help us in continuing to support the people we serve and their families.”
