Vice President, Sustainable Investing
Katharine Preston plays a leadership role in supporting OMERS mandate. She is responsible for leading OMERS overall approach to Sustainability across the fund and the enterprise. Katharine leads the development and advancement of OMERS approach to Sustainable Investing including the Climate Action Plan as well as the enterprise sustainability strategy. Our dedicated team of experts support OMERS with integrating critical environmental, social and governance risks and opportunities as part of investment decision making. To achieve our objective, Katharine and the team work closely with groups across the enterprise to deliver on our mandate.
Working as a sustainability professional for more than 20 years, Katharine has developed and delivered fit-for-purpose sustainability programs for pension funds. She collaborates regularly with industry groups and associations around the globe including Co-Chairing the Climate Advisory Council of the ILN, Chairing the Investor Leadership Advisory Panel of Climate Engagement Canada and sits on the Canadian Coalition for Good Governance’s Environment & Social Committee.
Katharine currently serves on the Board of Directors for the United Church of Canada’s Pension Plan and the Investment Committee for the University of Guelph.
Katharine holds a Bachelor of Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering from McGill University, as well as an MBA from the Schulich School of Business, York University.
