Joe Pennachetti was appointed by the City of Toronto to the OMERS Sponsors Corporation (SC) Board effective January 1, 2016. He is the Chair of the Audit Committee and serves as a member of the Corporate Governance Committee and Plan Design Committee.
Mr. Pennachetti has over 35 years of municipal financial management experience, including 14 years of experience managing the overall affairs for the City of Toronto as City Manager and CFO. He also has 16 years of experience as Treasurer (CFO) of GTA regional municipalities. His long career in public service has contributed to his ability to build strong inter-governmental relationships as well as develop successful management teams.
Mr. Pennachetti’s academic and professional designations include a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Windsor, a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Ontario, and he is a Certified Professional Accountant. In 2017, he completed a Certificate program in Board Effectiveness for Pensions and Long-Term Investments at the Rotman School of Management.
