Frank Ramagnano

Frank Ramagnano was appointed by the Ontario Professional Fire Fighters Association (OPFFA) to the OMERS Sponsors Corporation (SC) Board effective March 1, 2009. He serves on the Audit Committee, Corporate Governance Committee, and Plan Design Committee. Mr. Ramagnano is also a member of the AC/SC Joint Council.

In 2016, he became Co-Chair of the Board, serving on all SC committees. In 2020, he became the SC’s first-ever Board Chair following a unanimous election and served as a member of the Plan Design Committee, an ex-officio (non-voting) member on the Corporate Governance Committee, and Human Resources & Compensation Committee, and a member of the AC/SC Joint Council. He completed his term as the SC Board Chair on December 31, 2022. Prior to becoming the Co-Chair of the Board, Mr. Ramagnano also served as Chair of the Plan Design Committee.

Mr. Ramagnano is the Assistant to the General Secretary-Treasurer of the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF). In this role, his responsibilities include oversight of the two IAFF defined benefit pension plans. He completed his term as President of the Toronto Professional Fire Fighters’ Association in June 2021 after serving for six and half years and was Secretary-Treasurer from 2002 to 2014. In addition, he was a board member of The Fire Department Credit Union for nine years. Mr. Ramagnano retired from his position as a full-time firefighter for after 31 years of service with the City of Toronto, holding the position of Acting District Chief.

Mr. Ramagnano is a graduate of the Credit Union Director Achievement (CUDA) Program and holds certificates in Pension Plan Administration and the Pension Plan Trustee Development Program from Humber College’s Centre for Employee Benefits. In 2013, he completed the Governance Program at Queen’s University. In 2021 he earned his Chartered Director’s designation from the Directors College at McMaster University.

Mr. Ramagnano received a certificate in Labour Studies from George Brown College, and has been certified as a Company Officer by the Ontario Fire College. He has also graduated from the Harvard Law School/University of Ottawa Executive Leadership Program in 2014.
