Joe Pennachetti

Joe Pennachetti was appointed by the City of Toronto to the OMERS Sponsors Corporation (SC) Board effective January 1, 2016. He serves as a member of the Corporate Governance Committee, Audit & Human Resources Committee and Plan Design Committee.

Mr. Pennachetti has 40 years of municipal management experience, finishing his working career with 14 years managing the City of Toronto as CFO and City Manager. He also has 26 years of municipal finance experience in the GTA Regions of Durham, York (CFO) and Peel (CFO) which followed 10 years working in the City of Edmonton that included a focus on utility finance. His long career in public service has contributed to his ability to develop successful management teams and build strong inter- governmental relationships which has continued in retirement as the Chair of the Ontario Clean Water Agency (2018 - 2024).

Mr. Pennachetti’s academic and professional designations include a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Windsor, a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Ontario, and he is a Certified Professional Accountant. In 2017, he completed a Certificate program in Board Effectiveness for Pensions and Long-Term Investments at the Rotman School of Management.
