Debbie Fischer was appointed to the OMERS AC Board effective January 1, 2020 on the nomination of the Ontario Association of Children’s Aid Societies. She serves on the Governance & Risk Committee, Human Resources Committee and Appeals Committee.
Debbie is an experienced board director and has held senior leadership positions in professional consulting services, in health care and government. She is currently an Executive Associate with KPMG where she consults in organizational change, human resources strategy and large-scale system transformation for health care and public sectors. Debbie serves as director or committee chair on several boards including North York General Hospital, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and is an advisor to health and technology related businesses.
Debbie is an Executive-in-Residence at the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto where she is a mentor in the Creative Destruction Lab and also runs a mentorship program for MBA students interested in health care. She was previously the Executive Vice President, Strategy and Organizational Development at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto and an Assistant Deputy Minister in Ontario's Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. Prior to these roles, she has held a number of senior consulting and executive management positions in international professional services firms.
Debbie has a BSc from McGill University and MHA from the University of Ottawa. She also holds Certified Human Resources Executive (CHRE) and ICD.D designations and was recently awarded the Trudeau Medal from the University of Ottawa for outstanding alumni.
