OMERS commitment to pay benefits includes finding members with unclaimed benefits as well as ensuring our member information is accurate and complete. We have recently obtained the services of the National Search Unit (NSU) of Service Canada to help locate members who are no longer working for an OMERS employer but still have a benefit in the plan.

Life keeps getting busier and the need for information at members' fingertips was a driving force behind the launch of myOMERS, the new site that provides online member access. Registrations are over 10,000 since the site launched in December, and the overall response has been glowing based on recent survey results.

OMERS 2009 Annual Report is now available on the OMERS website, marking the second year the report has been delivered in an online, environmentally friendly format.

Today, OMERS announced a 10.6 per cent total rate of return for the year ended December 31, 2009, compared with a negative 15.3 per cent total rate of return in 2008. The average rate of return for the past five years now stands at 6.6 per cent, above the five-year average benchmark return of 5.8 per cent.

OMERS, one of Canada's largest pension funds, has been chosen by World Finance Magazine as Pension Fund of the Year 2010, Canada.
