Kristen Andrews, Pension and Benefits Assistant is the sole benefit administrator for the City of Barrie. “OMERS administration is the biggest part of my position,” Kristen says. “I do everything related to OMERS, from enrolments and contribution remittances to disabilities and retirements.”
On June 20, 2016, the federal and provincial Ministers of Finance announced an agreement in principle to enhance the Canada Pension Plan. At the same time, Ontario Finance Minister Charles Sousa announced the Ontario Retirement Pension Plan will not proceed.
On June 23, the British people voted to leave the European Union. The referendum that led to this decision was announced over a year ago. OMERS has been preparing for this possibility with comprehensive analysis and strategic decisions, including managing currency risk. While we do anticipate high volatility over the coming days and weeks, we are prepared and highly focused on managing through this situation.
