Your Options When Leaving

If you leave your job with an OMERS employer, you have to decide what to do with the OMERS pension you've built up.

Depending on your age and years of service:

• You can keep your pension in the OMERS plan until you retire.
• You may be able to transfer the commuted (present day) value of your pension to a locked-in RRSP.
• You may be able to transfer your OMERS benefit to another registered pension plan.
• You may already be eligible to start receiving your OMERS pension.
