Leaving or joining an OMERS employer? One of the decisions when changing jobs is whether to transfer your pension benefit.
As an OMERS member, you may be able to transfer pension credits into the OMERS Plan from another Canadian registered pension plan. If you have worked for any of the employers in the list below, or if you have been a member of another registered pension plan in the past, tell your OMERS employer about your past service, or contact OMERS Client Services directly. You may be able to transfer some or all of this service into OMERS. For more information, see Transferring Service From Another Pension Plan.
One of your options when leaving your OMERS employer is to transfer your benefit out of the OMERS Plan. If you are going to work for one of the employers listed below, OMERS has formal “reciprocal transfer agreements” with them. You may also be able to transfer some or all of your credited service to another employer's plan, if that plan will accept the transfer. If you will be working for any of these employers, be sure to inform them about your service in the OMERS plan. OMERS has reciprocal transfer agreements with the following pension plans:
