OMERS pensioners to receive an increase of 0.94% in 2021

November 19, 2020

Effective with their first pay in January of 2021, OMERS pensioners will receive an increase of 0.94%. This increase reflects general changes in the cost of living as measured by the Consumer Price Index published by Statistics Canada.

OMERS inflation protection increases retirement, disability and survivor pensions. Members whose pensions began in 2020 (prior to December) will receive a pro-rated increase. For those whose pensions begin in December 2020, they will be eligible to receive their first increase on January 1, 2022.

Pensioners are notified of this increase in late December through the Annual Statement of Pension provided to retired members and survivors, listing their inflation-adjusted pension amount for 2021. The statements are posted on the secure member portal, myOMERS, or mailed to members who prefer to receive their pension information by paper mail.

Pensioners who would like to switch to digital to access their Annual Statement of Pension as soon as it is available, can create a myOMERS account. Registering is easy and provides safe and secure access to pension information 24/7. With the convenience of myOMERS members can change their address, phone number, email address and access important pension documents – all online!
