Sheila Vandenberk was appointed to the OMERS AC Board in 2009 and is Chair of the Member Services Committee. She also serves as a member of the Governance Committee and the Investment Committee.
Ms. Vandenberk has a B.Sc. in Physics and served as head of the Mathematics Department at a Toronto high school. She later became President of the North York District of OSSTF and was a member of the provincial OSSTF Pensions and Benefits Committee. She then served as Treasurer on the OSSTF Provincial Executive until she retired from full-time employment. She was on the Executive Board of the Ontario Teachers' Federation where she chaired the Budget and Finance Committee and the Personnel Committee and served as a member of the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan Partners' Committee. Sheila also serves on the Board of Directors of Educators Financial Group, a financial services company serving the educational community. Ms. Vandenberk is a Fellow of the Ontario Teachers' Federation and a Life Member of OSSTF.
Sheila obtained the Chartered Director designation from The Directors College in 2007 and obtained its Audit Committee Certified designation in 2011. She has also completed courses on Governance Essentials, Financial Literacy, Audit Committees, and Managing Change at UBC, University of Calgary, Harvard Business School and London Business School, respectively.
