The Pension Services division is the mainstay of OMERS and the reason we are in business.

The OMERS pension is a key part of our members’ financial and retirement planning. 

The Plan provides a guaranteed income stream for life in retirement based on your “best-five” years of earnings. OMERS offers annual inflation protection of 100% of the Canadian Consumer Price Index (CPI) and our spousal survivor benefit is the maximum allowed under federal law. We also pay a supplementary bridge benefit to age 65 in addition to the lifetime pension.

We have one of the best service records among public sector plans and more than 90% of information requests called into our call centre are handled on first contact. All other requests from both members and employers are completed in less than three days.  

Our employers form a vital link between the Plan and its members. Through our innovative e-access program our employers can view up-to-date pension information as well as submit information directly to OMERS through a secure web site. This has permitted streamlined reporting, eliminated the need to re-enter data, and improved our efficiency and administration: all of which improves our service to the members.
