Supplemental Plan (Police, firefighters, paramedics)

The OMERS Act, 2006 required that a Supplemental Plan was developed to offer optional benefits for members of the police sector, firefighters and paramedics by July 1, 2008. An employer may offer a benefit to a specific class or classes of employees. Supplemental benefits will “top up” the pension that a member already earns in OMERS Primary Plan.

In this section, you’ll find details about:

  • how each benefit works with OMERS primary pension
  • eligibility for the benefits
  • service purchases related to supplemental benefits
  • contribution rates and more information
